SHAMAN WORK RECORDINGS VENTURES TO FOREFRONT OF DIGITAL AGE WITH RELEASE OF TRUTH BE TOLD BY NEWLY SIGNED ARTIST, K BANGER
They say that the truth will set you free. With the long awaited debut release from Shaman Work’s newest addition to the label roster, K Banger presents Truth Be Told, ten songs of freedom from the overflow of disposable music today. Catching the tip of the digital release tidal wave with the official downloadable drop date set for July 10th, the Central New Jersey MC/producer is coming out the box exploring new ways to connect with his growing audience but still staying true to his music.
Although Truth Be Told is his first official release as a solo artist, K Banger is far from being an industry scene newbie having played the Vans Warped Tour two years in a row (’04 and ’05) and opening for acts like X Clan, Non Phixion, and Savion Glover. Banger has also been featured on numerous releases such as Shaman Work Presents Family Files Volumes 1 & 2, Scienz of Life’s Book of the Dead along with Diggin In The Archives and Floyd the Locsmif’s Divine Designz among others. In addition, he is an audio producer for Black Entertainment Television where Banger’s music and voice is heard literally by millions daily.
Linking up with now Shaman Work label president, Lil’ Sci (of Scienz of Life), in the New Jersey scene nearly ten years ago was how Banger became a presence in the fold of Shaman’s endeavors in the years to come. It was a matter of waiting to strike once the iron was hot to make this release a reality as an officially signed Shaman artist.
“Truth Be Told is not meant to revive hip hop or be the ‘breath of fresh air’ album. This is not conscious rap. This isn’t righteous rap. This isn’t the organic album. This is strictly hip hop. I still have yet to show what I can really do,” tells Banger in regards to his upcoming release. The debut boasts a production line up of Floyd the Locsmif (50 Cent), K Dubble, John Robinson, Decompose, ID 4 Windz aka Invizible Handz, Rickochae, and one track by the man himself.
Offsetting the clichéd tale of rapping to get out of a ghetto, Banger went through the Catholic school system and his passion for words and rhymes began with poetry. With a natural inclination for music, he began learning to play instruments within all different genres of music from classical to reggae. Then, once hip hop infiltrated his consciousness at a young age, there was no turning back.
“Everything has had to change and music is still in great demand,” comments Banger on the new option of a digital release. “These new technologies are the greatest thing to ever happen,” he adds. Accessibility of the music aside, Truth Be Told is self-explanatory: this release is truthful insight on what Hip-hop is and should be.
