Exposed to her first live show at age seven, a young Sontiago felt ever changed by the sight and sound of Ella Fitzgerald, and forever hooked on music. Her first three 45 records were Herbie Hancock, Madonna and Prince. Her first rap show, Public Enemy.
Her own first show came about in college when she began rhyming and singing publicly in North Carolina with her male collaborators.
It wasn't until her move to Maine and a very supportive and encouraging hip-hop open mic night crowd that she had the faith to pursue a solo career.
Most recently recognized as one of URB magazine's Next 100 up and coming artists of 2007 and signed to Montreal's, Endemik Music label. Female songstress and emcee pairs up with Dilly Dilly and Gabe FM for a new approach on hip-hop that incorporates live instrumentations, turntablism and a duo of powerful female vocals. |

dilly dilly is Erin Olivia Davidson, a wonderfully tuned voice singing sincerely from the heart accompanied by herself on Ukulele and Banjo. This multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter from Maine, formerly a member of the international touring band, Cerberus Shoal, picked up the Ukelele in 2005 after an abrupt hiatus from the band.
The ukulele was, to her, an instrument that motivated the idea of a solo project starting off with a stripped down sound of just instrument and voice. She recorded her first solo EP called ‘Akidleadivy’ under the guise of ‘dilly dilly’ and hit the road for her first solo tour.
Recently finishing a 42-date USA tour as a member of Sage Francis’ backing band with Alias and Tom Inhaler, dilly is taking her solo act on the road once again this fall. On this tour she will also be backing good friend Sontiago after collaborating with her for the past three years in support of her sophomore album titled ‘Steel Yourself’. |
